Religion - The shroud of turin is in the news again, with reports on a new documentary being filmed based on the 1988 tests on its legitimacy which at the time was labelled by scientists as fake. However the Oxford laboratory now says that it’s inital findings may be incorrect. The problem, or should I say the irony or hypocrisy (take your pick) here is that religion in general tends to write off science whenever it clashes with their views. Geological evidence, theory of evolution, both of which are attempted to be discredited through religious beliefs including the teachings of creationism. And yet here is a historical finding and they decide it’s ok that science can help prove it’s  legitimacy. As long as it benefits them! These are the same techniques that completely disprove a lot of religious myths that can be found in the bible itself. Maybe it’s just me but that is quite ironic. And just to elaborate more on the shroud of turin and the time of Jesus Christ, there is a possibility that it could be Jesus Christ’s face imprinted on the cloth. It’s just as probable however, maybe more so that it’s one of the many many so called “messiahs” of the time who funnily enough, lived and died in a very similar way to Jesus Christ. Think Apollonius Of Tyana, who travelled to offer teachings of his beliefs, who allegedly had supernatural powers similar to Jesus, who was later perscuted for his beliefs, brought to trial and then crucified and on top of that also allegedly came back from the dead. Yes, Apollonius Of Tyana, not Jesus Christ. Look him up, it’s not in the bible but Jesus wasn’t the only messiah to live, die and.. well live again. All I’m saying is, if it is real, it’s probably not Jesus.

Politics - Not much of a political person but once in a while something comes up that doesn’t seem right. The whole world is sorta following the 2008 US prsidential race, not so much because they care about American politics because they don’t, not even Americans do as the number of voters at the last election will tell you but because people just want George “Dubbya” to get the fuck out. I think at this point even Bush supporters are fed up with his unbelievable charisma and intelligence. It’s time for a change and the next President will dictate how the world will look at the US and how the economy will be affected. For those that don’t know whats going on, Obama Barack, Hillary Clinton and John Mccain are really the only real potential candidates left. Everyone else has either dropped out or have no chance in hell. And who decides to join in the race? Ralph Nader, a democrat who has previously tried to run for the presidency 4 times, each time losing quite badly. Noone gives a shit about him, and now the democrats are saying he may cost Obama or Hillary a win because he will just eat up a few meaningless votes which could have gone towards them instead of the Republicans. He did the same thing in 2000 which turned out to be one of the closest elections ever. I’m sure he means well but he has to realize this isn’t high school elections, it’s the real deal. Ralphie boy, just drop it, noones interested and your gonna fuck up the country even more than it needs to be.

Entertainment - The Oscars and Grammy awards are done. The Oscars I don’t care for, most of the films nominated are usually the same kind of overrated films anyway. The Grammy Awards on the other hand is just a crapfest. It’s been the hip hop and country music awards for the last 20 years or so. It has absolutely no bearing on what real talent is actually out there. Whoever picks the nominees, let alone the winners has no fucking idea what music is. I mean, Jethro Tull winning best hard rock/metal performance in 1989, over Metallica of all bands pretty much sums it up. ‘Nuff said.
